Opinion page: Welch put in bad company

With all due respect Mr. Larsen, I suggest you watch your tongue. (I’m assuming you dictated your column in yesterday’s News-Times). While your defense of Martha Stewart displayed admirable gallantry, mentioning Jack Welch in the same breath as Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling comes awfully close to being slander.

I’m convinced that Jack Welch is an honest and honorable man. He built GE into one of the biggest and most admired companies listed in the New York Stock exchange. As a GE stockholder since 1959, I’ve watched closely and am proud of what he made of the company.

The world needs more men like Jack Welch.
