Thank you George Pardington for your thoughtful remarks regarding the recent Fil-Am Celebration of Life (Letters, Sept. 28).

Speaking as a former secretary to the organization, serving for 18 years with eight different presidents, including Judith Borras, and each, with his/her unique style of leadership, it is the combined efforts of the board of directors with the president at the helm over its 31-year existence, that have made Fil Am what it is today.

Ms. Borras' efforts in acquiring the food trailer have not gone unnoticed, and the Filipino American Association of Oak Harbor is grateful to Ms. Borras, to local businesses and individuals for their financial support and to the Pardington family for their unconditional dedication in managing the lumpia and pancit fund raisers during Ms. Borras' term of office.

Membership to Fil-Am is open to the public, board meetings are held every first Sunday of the month at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1 p.m.
