Are we safer now?

Unfortunately, America had to learn a very painful lesson last September. Defending our homeland and its borders are the primary job of the federal government. While checking Rick Larsen’s voting record on Homeland Defense, I was extremely disappointed and concerned by his repeated votes AGAINST strengthening our borders (vote 356, 9/25/01). He also voted against assigning U.S. Armed Forces to help the INS and Customs Service in preventing terrorists and drug dealers from entering the United States (vote 154, 5/10/02), and against modernizing the U.S. Customs and providing more agents on the Washington/Canadian border (vote 413, 10/31/01). This is not a time to take chances. Haven’t we learned anything yet? Sorry Rick, but I’m voting for someone who will vote to protect America.
