Transportation: Traffic light impairs travel

I think the traffic situation in Oak Harbor is mostly due to the idiotic traffic lights. They are an unsynchronized mess and usually contribute more to jams than to flow.

There is no way you can get through Oak Harbor without multiple stops at the lights, even at 3 a.m. when they could all be turned off. Actually, I think most of them could be turned off all the time except for the few hours when there is significant cross traffic.

As a veteran driver of old Highway 99/Aurora Avenue /S.Tacoma Way, I know there is a better way than what we have. I drive through Oak Harbor at least 10 times a week and every trip is a marvel of technology gone bad.
