Busing: Let's make Midway safer

I agree with Mrs. Cotter (News-Times, March 3, “Navy, mothers unite against bus plan). Midway is very dangerous to the elementary students using it even with the crossing guards there. I don’t believe that yellow flashing lights are the answer either, they might draw our attention for a time but we will become used to them being there and fail to pay attention.

I have three children enrolled at present and will have another in the next couple of years. I don’t have a better suggestion right now because I don’t know of the proposed changes. Maybe the newspaper should print the proposals in a special edition with a map of the routes and the changes outlined, so everyone interested could view the effects of the changes.

I am pretty sure that Midway is not the only dangerous crossing involved in this issue.
