Gravel pit: Navy worse than gravel pit

I have read the numerous Letters to the editor regarding the gravel pit. I am puzzled about why these residents never mention the Navy. The noise and pollution from a gravel pit is nothing compared to that of the Navy. At least the gravel pit would be closed at night.

If these people are truly concerned about the pristine environment why don’t they address the assault on Whidbey Island by the Navy? NAS Whidbey is one of the most polluted bases in the country!

Could they afford to live on Whidbey Island if the Navy didn’t decrease property values?
