Emergency crews: Let's all be more like them

After a first-ever 911 call for a potential medical emergency out in our county area, I must say that we were pleasantly surprised (amazed) by the swift, professional, and helpful response of our volunteer fire department personnel and Whidbey General Hospital paramedics. They were serious, efficient, well-trained, friendly and honestly concerned. Within minutes they had the situation controlled and stabilized.

Although they were able to determine that it was less of a threat than originally thought, for us it would have been disastrous without their work. This isnÂ’t New York (thank goodness) but these people are every bit as dedicated to service as those who were so terribly sacrificed at Ground Zero. They deserve our respect and gratitude.

We want to thank them and say that they and Whidbey General Hospital have our grateful support. Theirs is the job we seldom think of until that big, critical moment arrives. What do you think this country would be like if all our elected representatives, business executives and even ourselves were more like them? It would be a moral revival akin to our heroic foundersÂ’ original Spirit of 1776. That might be worth considering.
