Your editorial of Dec. 12 stated the Oak Harbor’s Comprehensive Plan Task Force work is long since finished.

The comprehensive plan is due a major five-year review this coming year. Disbanding the task force and shifting the responsibilities to the planning commission which is already overburdened with work is not the answer. The work load doesn’t change and the city will still need to schedule public meetings and facilitate them.

The Comprehensive Plan Task Force is a diverse group of dedicated volunteers that have built a strong professional relationship within its membership, with city staff and the city council. On many occasions the mayor has publicly praised the work they have done for the city. They have a proven track record that has and will continue to save the city thousands of dollars.

I strongly support continuing the task force to keep open government working.
