Thankful for the good service in Oak Harbor | Letters

April 12, 2013 · Updated 3:31 PM

On March 22, one day after our 54th wedding anniversary, we were homebound from Anacortes to Port Townsend, when we stopped in Oak Harbor.

We returned to the car to find it wouldn’t start.

Being a Toyota Prius, it is a little different than most to jump start.

All I could think was a well-known tire chain.

They sent a truck to jump start my car, and had me drive back to their facility, where a technician did a diagnosis on the battery and found it to be functioning correctly.

To my surprise, when I asked for the bill, I was told “no sir there is no charge for the service.”

Not only did I not get charged, I was treated with courteous employees, who made a bad situation seem not such a big deal.

Today, these services and employees are few and far between.

So, to those kind dedicated employees we want to say “thank you” and to the Oak Harbor business for which they work and policies that allow for such acts of kindness.
