Regarding the first community forum at the Rec Hall in Coupeville on June 10, I believe it was a good beginning to a regular exchange of ideas and opinions.

It was well attended but the noise level was such that it was often difficult to hear and be heard. May I suggest to the administration that they follow the classic format of the Conversation Cafe, i.e., that a subject is provided and each person at the table is permitted to speak on that subject, without comment and without interruption.

The idea that we have different opinions is the whole idea of the process. The 15 minute time allotted to each table was woefully inadequate, especially as so many subjects were being covered by each table.

My thanks to the Town Council and administration for putting this forum into place. Now let’s improve on it and encourage civil and lively discourse!
