Speak only for yourself, not others | Letters

Editor,
This is in response to Ronald Cope’s letter of Jan. 12.
Your impressive education aside, how dare you speak for me or others by stating that “firearms are an unacceptably dangerous and inefficient means to protect ourselves or our families.”
That statement is preposterous on its face. Rarely does law enforcement stop a crime in progress.
They clean up and write reports after the fact.
I don’t know what you’re sleeping arrangements are, but I do not have a police office in my bedroom at 2 a.m.
I find a large bore handgun with a laser sight extremely efficient at that hour should someone enter my house uninvited.
You protect your family as you see fit and I’ll do the same.
