Police chief does know gun safety | Letters

January 8, 2013 · Updated 3:29 PM

Editor,

I would like to publicly retract my comments regarding Oak Harbor Chief of Police Ed Green in a letter to the editor published on Jan. 4, 2013.

I requested a meeting with Chief Green, which occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 4 and discovered that the Whidbey News-Times published only a portion of Chief Green’s statements.

Chief Green is by far the most knowledgeable law enforcement officer I have ever met regarding firearms possession and carrying laws and he is working hard to ensure that his department provides the appropriate level of investigation regarding the peaceful carrying of firearms to ensure that all applicable laws are being complied with.

I owe Chief Green a deep and sincere apology.
