Letters to the Editor

I am writing in response to Vin Sherman’s letter of June 24, portraying former California residents in a denigrating manner. I fall in that classification, but I consider myself neither an immigrant nor a refugee, nor do I live in a “trophy” house.

I am now a Whidbey Islander. I love my island and my life here. I am a responsible, taxpaying citizen of the United States of America, and the last time I looked that gave me the right to choose the state and location where I want to live out my life.

The Lord has blessed my husband and I with the greatest neighbors who welcomed us with kindness and friendship. I wouldn’t dream of invading and contaminating Vin Sherman’s historically sacred neighborhood!
