Discount not for spouses
July 3, 2008 · Updated 9:04 PM
I read with amazement the June 2 letter from the military dependent who was offended (her words) because a local restaurant would not give her the discount offered to active duty personnel. Why in the world would she think she was entitled to take advantage of a privilege offered by local businesses if they choose?
There is no discount military or senior that is anyones God given right to receive. There are many retired military and their spouses on this Island that have never been afforded the luxury of a discount while in the service anywhere and have never expected it.
In this case, the statement here WE are defending this country and WE cannot even get a discount at this place, is slightly absurd considering who is in the service and defending HIS country. All of us who have been military wives salute you for your service and hope you get over yourself!
