If you happened to be in Oak Harbor on Friday, June 1, or Saturday, June 2, and in the vicinity of North Whidbey Middle Schools track off Highway 20, Im sure you couldnt help but notice all the canopies and tents lining the track.
If you ventured near to take a look, you would have heard the music, seen all the people walking the track, and felt the excitement of the event. This event was North Whidbeys Relay for Life, which is a team event to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the fight to find a cure for cancer.
This was the 20th Anniversary of the Relay and was a memorable event. So many dedicated people donate so much time and effort all year to plan for this, and so many people spend the 24 hours out walking the track, running the track, or just dancing. As a member of the Naval Hospital Oak Harbor team, I would like to thank all our wonderful team members, who donated their time and effort to help our team raise money for this worthy cause. I would also like to thank all the generous people who dropped money in our Dancing for Dollars, Dancing for a Cure box during the 24-hour event. I would like to personally recognize the generosity of one kind person who donated a $300 check to our dancing efforts what a wonderful time we all had. If youve not had the pleasure of participating in the Relay for Life, we hope you will consider joining or starting a team next year. Ill see you out there!
