Response quick to sprinklers
July 3, 2008 · Updated 9:03 PM
This is in response to the story (News-Times, June 30) regarding the running sprinklers at Oak Harbor Town Center. I represent Whirlwind Services, the landscape maintenance company that handles this site.
Our north-end crew responded to the running sprinkler problem as soon as we were notified, which was first thing Thursday morning, June 28. The entire system was cleared and the clocks reset so that the irrigation would run only at night. During the investigation, our crew found a missing valve in the irrigation box at K-Mart, which may have caused the sprinkler to stay on continuously.
Our irrigation crew spent the entire day correcting the problem, during which they communicated directly with the managers at K-Mart and Saars grocery, as well as the city of Oak Harbor. We have suggested that the irrigation boxes be locked to prohibit future vandalism and we will continue to work on the issue with the tenants until it has been resolved. At Whirlwind Services, we pride ourselves on the superior customer service that we provide to our clients and the community.
