Ferry money spent wrongly
July 3, 2008 · Updated 8:57 PM
It might surprise some readers to learn that the State Legislature has funded $347 million to build new boats to replace the Steel Electrics (the Klickitat class).
Unfortunately for the taxpayer, the ferry system has chosen to build boats that will not replace the Steel Electrics, hence this fiasco for ferry service from Central Whidbey Island to the Olympic Peninsula.
So far, the media has not asked Washington State Ferries why.
