I would like to publicly thank Mike Clay and Dawn England from Raytheon Corp. for their gift of four computers and monitors to Oak Harbor Middle School and the Yearbook Club.

Mike was formerly stationed here on Whidbey Island and read about the theft of the computers in the Whidbey News-Times. But he didn’t just read about it and say “oh, that’s too bad,” and go on about his business. He picked up the phone, tracked me down, and asked about donating computers to replace the stolen ones. He and his company reflect the spirit of community that makes Washington state such a great place to live.

He and Dawn drove all the way up from Keyport to personally deliver the computers to the classrooms on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Thank you Mike, Dawn and Raytheon Corp. Your generosity and commitment to the children of Oak Harbor deserves a standing ovation!
