Bailey should tout accomplishments

October 26, 2012 · Updated 3:22 PM

The recent deluge of offensive campaign mailings to voters of Island County is appalling.

Rep. Barbara Bailey owes the residents of District 10 an apology for all the scurrilous, slimy, Photo-shopped, flagrantly false political dirt against Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen that has hit our mailboxes. As usual, we get the name of a PAC and a post office box as identification of the sender. As it turns out, the Good Government Leadership Council is based in Centralia and has one contributor, The Leadership Council.

Who is the Leadership Council? They are the PAC for the State Senate Republicans. Barbara’s silence is tacit approval of these mailings.

Why send hit pieces? Any elected official has a record that can be honestly disagreed with and/or defended. Some elected officials have very little record to defend so they turn to hit mail.

Which is it, Barbara? What are your accomplishments? Why not tell us about them? Only then do we have a real basis for making a judgment on who will best represent our interests.
