Johnson supports schools, Navy
October 5, 2012 · Updated 4:26 PM
I am supporting Jill Johnson for the following reasons. I began working with Jill early in my tenure as Oak Harbor High School principal and gained great respect for her support of all students and their educational goals in the city of Oak Harbor. She understands the truth in “It takes a whole village to raise a child.” When Jill became a member of the Rotary group that worked on behalf of the stadium and the bonds to remodel OHHS, her leadership and experience was invaluable.
Jill’s vision for education and for a better Oak Harbor and Whidbey Island are seen in her understanding of the active duty military and civilian contract providers at NAS Whidbey Island. She understands that NAS Whidbey is the largest employer and the dollars those wage earners spend drives, in many cases, the success or failure of private enterprise in Oak Harbor. Her support for the military appreciation day in September and her coordination and leadership in working with her Chamber of Commerce members helps drive a highly successful occasion.
