Property owner has no plans to sell

August 28, 2012 · Updated 2:30 PM

Articles in the news media have informed me that the city of Oak Harbor plans to displace Pioneer Automotive so that it can site a sewer treatment plant on Pioneer Way. (Former location of Frontier Chevrolet-Pontiac.) No one from the city has contacted the owner, Redneck Properties LLC. The property is not for sale.

While private industry would determine what property may be available before deciding on a major construction project, government can simply condemn what ever property it takes a fancy to. However, it must pay the market value, and must pay to relocate a business it displaces.

Pioneer Automotive plans to stay right where it is. But if it ultimately is displaced by government it plans to provide excellent service and local jobs in a new location. Pioneer Automotive occupies a prime downtown location; please do not let the unsolicited sewer treatment selection discourage your patronage.
