Limit health care in Oak Harbor schools

June 12, 2012 · Updated 2:39 PM

I have always supported our public schools wherever I lived but not now; not after reading a recent school levy article. I support schools for educating, activities to enhance the development, athletics, music, performing arts and social activities.

I oppose attempting to turn the public school system into providing medical care. The school nurse is to provide immediate emergency medical care and advice. Now some want to expand it into providing regular medical services. Not on my tax dollars. My family is responsible for that, not the taxpayers.

The nation is facing bankruptcy from taking on all the social programs, spending billions taking care of a tremendous number of people who have been brought up to feel they are entitled to freeload for life’s needs. We are facing what the European nations are suffering: Bankruptcy!

This proposal for our school system to assume family responsibilities and duties is just another step down that path.
