300 pounds of drugs collected
May 1, 2012 · Updated 2:23 PM
As you are aware, April 28, 2012, was the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Fourth National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Overall this was a huge success on Whidbey Island. We collected 300 pounds of drugs at our three collection sites (Island County Sheriff’s Precinct ffice in Freeland, Coupeville Police Department in Coupeville, and Oak Harbor Police Department in Oak Harbor).
The individual collections site numbers were as follows: 150 pounds collected at the Freeland Precinct, 100 pounds at Oak Harbor Police Department, and 50 pounds at Coupeville Police Department.
I would like to personally thank all those involved in advertising the event and those police agencies that agreed to participate in this very worthwhile program. Together we can (and did) make a difference!
Camano Island residents are able to take advantage of Snohomish County’s year-round drug take back program and turn their unwanted prescription drugs into the Stanwood Police Department during normal working hours. The Snohomish County Drug Task Force Team coordinates this effort throughout Snohomish County. Thank you.
Mark Brown
Island County Sheriff
