Power Squadron can save lives
February 18, 2012 · Updated 5:53 AM
We are surrounded by water and anyone heading out on a boat, especially in an open skiff or fishing boat, and alone, needs to wear a life jacket! It is required for children 12 and under at all times; and may be required for all adults if the number of deaths continue, such as the crabber who recently lost his life in Penn Cove.
Our boating education group, Deception Pass Sail & Power Squadron, is a unit of the United States Power Squadron. Its mission is to teach the public about safe boating including regular use of life jackets. We regularly offer basic boating classes to the public and we have one starting Feb. 28 in Greenbank.
Is this a shameless plug for our trainings? You bet! It we can save one life, it was worth it. Contact me at mwilliford@frontier.com or 279-1551.
