Emerson should pay fines now

Many of us have followed Kelly Emerson’s shenanigans and ongoing feud with the county, as reported in your paper, with increasing frustration and indignation.

She and her husband have still not paid their fines incurred for illegal building, in spite of losing two court decisions that declared them liable.

What’s going on? Is she being given preferential treatment because she is a public official? Is she being catered to because she is such an obstructionist? How can a leader of the county be seen as anything but irresponsible for pursuing her personal agenda instead of doing her duty as a commissioner?

It’s time for Ms. Emerson to pay up, cease her private vendetta against her own county, and start acting like the government leader she was elected to be.
