We’re occupying Chase in Freeland

January 10, 2012 · Updated 1:34 PM

Occupy South Whidbey is staging a sidewalk protest Friday, Jan. 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chase Bank in Freeland.

We will be protesting J. P. Morgan Chase’s ongoing activities against taxpayers in the current financial crisis. Chase Bank is perpetuating this crisis, which is painful to the 99 percent. Chase is currently facing over $16 billion in lawsuits by Americans who have been disenfranchised by its actions and policies.

Despite this, Chase has declared huge profits every year ($4.26 billion in third quarter 2011 alone) at the expense of ordinary citizens. Its CEO compensation ($20.3 million in 2010) is among the highest of all U.S. banks. The federal government recently penalized Chase for slow, inadequate resolution of its foreclosure remedies (December 2011).

This is the first of many political actions for Occupy South Whidbey in response to the current  national financial crisis. Join us and hold Chase and other large banks accountable.

We are the 99 percent.
