Bicyclists ignore rules of the road | Letter

They can’t have it both ways! I’m sick and tired of following bicycles down the highway at 5 mph, coming to a red light, and they ride right on through, while I have to stop. They want the same rights as motor vehicles, but don’t feel they have to obey the same laws that cars do.

I have seen them run red lights in front of the police, and nothing happens, but if I ran that same light in my car, here comes ol’ smokey. I was on my way to Coupeville, a bicyclist was waiting to cross Highway 20, I’m driving 50 mph, and I get the middle finger, I guess for not stopping and letting him cross.

Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate bicycles every time I see the price of gas, but if they want the rights of motor vehicles, they should have to obey the same laws I do.
