Support our Whidbey Island hospital
July 29, 2011 · Updated 1:36 PM
We have been in Whidbey General Hospital 10 times over the last five years for both minor and major surgeries. Dr. Zaveruha and staff saved my husband’s life twice. My latest surgeries were cataract removals by Dr. Cichowski and a total hip replacement by Dr. Picco.
Yes, the Whidbey General Hospital bond, which will be presented to voters for the second time early next year, will cost taxpayers more dollars, but the benefit will be a hospital where you will be admitted and not turned away in the future for lack of room. An added benefit with expansion would be having one patient per room instead of two!
Since we are senior citizens, it is difficult for us to cross to the mainland to go to other facilities. We need them right her on the island. In closing, put yourself in others’ shoes should you ever need or require the fine services of Whidbey General Hospital.
P.S. Very tasty food is served to the patients, as well as meals downstairs in the West Winds Cafe. There is also a very fine gift shop.
