Thank you for your support on Earth Day. It was a beautiful day at the Yacht Club and families enjoyed many wonderful activities. Thanks goes to PSE for its sponsorship, the OHSD for the bike rodeo and guest speaker Willie Weir.

Thanks also to those who led great activities for families including WSU Waste Wise, Island County Recycling, Navy Recycling, Navy Energy Efficiency, Whidbey Island Bike Club, Whidbey Audubon, Whidbey Island Conservation District, the Deception Pass Power Squadron, Island Transit, WEAN, Home Depot, Angelo’s Café and the OHHS Key Club volunteers. You created a fun and festive day for Oak Harbor families.

Thanks also to Albertson’s and Starbucks who sponsored the First Monday in May breakfast for car-free commuters. This was the third year for Oak Harbor but the first year that free breakfasts were offered in Coupeville and Freeland too. Despite the rain, dozens of commuters came by bike, bus, carpool and their own two feet for free coffee and treats. It was a great start to National Bike Month.

Remember car-free commuters can register on Rideshareonline.com, log on 10 times a month and automatically your name will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card to the local business of your choice. Enjoy your bike, bus, walking or carpooling this summer. And good luck on the drawing.
