No humor seen in opinion by ‘jerk’
Your March 16 “Editor’s column” was neither humorous nor ironic as you try to be. You sir proved to be a jerk! There is no humor, nor is humor a way to heal the serious disaster that took place and is still going on in Japan. You are however seemingly correct that such a disaster could take place here in Whidbey. Could you imagine how Whidbey Islanders would react to the Japanese or any other nation that might try to make fun of such a disaster here. Your mean sarcasm regarding Godzilla, Charlie Sheen, and the battery situation in an attempt to make fools out of the Japanese and to use them as the butt of your joking is disgusting.
Let me also remind you that should such a disaster occur here, those that might lose their waterfront property, possessions and even their lives are not to be mocked. You just show your mean spirit. You must be very angry, resentful, and envious of those who have worked hard, pay their high taxes for their property to be on the waterfront. I know many people who live “way up the hill” as you put it (that are wealthy and not so wealthy) and are wonderful people that I care about and respect and that I would help in any way I could should they need it. I am also sure they would gladly offer shelter to those less fortunate at that time, even if they once had a home and life on the waterfront.
Shame on you as the editor of the newspaper. I am glad you only speak for yourself.
