Still thinking about turkey

Obviously Thanksgiving is behind us now, since everywhere we turn it’s Christmas music, decorations, tree sales, holiday parties and the Nutcracker.

Here in Coupeville, though, let’s spend a moment in gratitude for the turkey and ham bakers, our dishwasher who has not missed a year since we started the community feast in 1999, hardworking Boy Scout Troop 53 and all the volunteer chefs who raided their heirloom cookbooks to put on a Thanksgiving spread that would have done a 5-star restaurant proud.

It was yummy. It was local. It was free. In the best sense of the word, the 12th Annual Thanksgiving potluck at the Rec Hall was community coming together in friendship and fun.

Thanks, everyone!
