I was driving my white Honda CRV north on West Beach Road at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. You were tailgating me in a large black vehicle even though I was driving consistent with the 50 mph speed limit. You then quickly pulled out and passed me.

I didn’t get your vehicle license number or anything because I watched in horror as you hit a small dog — a miniature pinscher or similar — and you just kept right on driving. I, along with another person, stopped to help the little dog, but he was already dead. He had no ID tags, so I moved him gently to the side of the road and just had to leave him there for his owners to find.

I hope you got to wherever you were in such a hurry to get to. And I hope you read this, and realize that you were the driver, and that you will slow down before you take another life.
