Dave Mattens is an exceptional guy! I have known him since our first meeting three years ago at a Washington State Association of County Assessors meeting.

He served our country for more than 25 years in both the Navy and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He captained a research vessel for NOAA and his experience and skill there has transferred to his management style in the Island County Assessor’s Office. His entire officer’s career has been filled with management assignments.

He is a life-long learner with a stack of courses and degrees to make anyone proud. Since coming to the office of assessor, Dave has completed all the necessary coursework to administer his office from a technician’s perspective.

Dave is a family-man of 25 years with wife Diane and three children. All this wonderful background is brought to his job as assessor. Continuing Dave in office is the best possible course of action for the property owners of Island County. Fairness, efficiency and knowledge are the attributes he brings in abundance to his office.

Retain Dave Mattens as your county assessor.
