Who’s complaining about the clerk?

Does anyone wonder why the people with the strongest opinions against Patricia Terry are the very people whose work she has had to clean up in the seven months she has been in the office of Island County Clerk?

Let us review: We have heard from the former clerk whose “work” is well known to state auditors, having dinged the office year after year for sloppy accounting practices.

We have heard from one of the employees who was on the job while hundreds of legal records sat dusty on the shelf until Terry came along and kicked rump to get work flowing again.

Now we hear from the former chief deputy, part of the management team who allowed things to get so bad that it took a whole team of county clerks from around the state to come in and help straighten out the mess.

Well now ... I think I just answered my own question.
