Alexis Creek celebrates the Christmas season

The Alexis Creek Community Hall was decorated beautifully for the annual Christmas Party, Dec. 9.

The happy hour was enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbours, coming from all parts of the Chilcotin.

The perfect Christmas dinner, prepared by Laurie Bowser and the Chilcotin Hotel, just the greatest, their snacks and goodies were scrumptious.

During intermission auctioneer Slim Brecknock got mega bucks for the pies baked by the “Friends.”

The money raised, goes toward the school bursary.

The “Friends’ met Tuesday, Dec. 19 and baked cookies, which they give to some special people for christmas.

Mary Sutherland donated a wonderful basket of bannock which everyone enjoyed munching on throughout the evening.

Kim Mernett donated a basket of baked goodies, to be auctioned off with the money going to the Community Hall.

The band Skid Marks kept the dancers hopping until the wee hours, many reluctant to go home.

Valerie Telford spent a relaxing fortnight house sitting and caring for the animals while daughter Jennifer and family had a holiday in Mexico.

Val will have her family home for Christmas this year.

Daughter Carol flies from Italy where she has been working for several years. Grandchildren Garrett and Brook Madley will arrive from Australia.

Garrett joined his sister for a month holiday there, and they toured many parts of the country.

Brooke has finished her semester, a class assignment in tourism management in Lismore, Australia.

Jennifer and Jack and the children from Kamloops will join them all for a wonderful family Christmas on the ranch.

Brooke will return to Kamloops for further studies in Tourism Management.

The skating rink is perfect, the weather cooperated and they got a good layer of ice. Skating is full steam ahead. They plan on two hockey games a week as well as a lot of public skating, everyone enjoys getting out and testing their skills. Skating parties will be arranged.

The community school has donated a tractor and snow blower for snow removal, which is the greatest, the rink rats are overwhelmed with the gift.
