Oak Harbor residents should take advantage of this year’s City Wide Clean Up on Saturday, April 15.

It’s one of the year’s best bargains as city crews will dispose of most unwanted items for absolutely free. It’s a great opportunity to dump old junk cluttering up your property or even that couch or mattress you’ve wanted to get out of the house. It normally costs a lot to dispose of those large items at the county landfill, so don’t miss this opportunity.

Clean up your lot by removing brush and old tires, which will improve the appearance of the city while making it less attractive to rats and mosquitos.

In general, city residents can dump household garbage, yard waste, recyclables and standard vehicle tires. You can’t bring household hazardous waste, and the maximum allowed is one car or pickup load per party. Drive the unwanted stuff to the city’s municipal shop area on NE 16th Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 15.

If you’re wondering about exactly what can be dumped, call 279-4530 or 279-4750. This cleanup day is a worthy effort to make the city a more attractive and healthy place, while saving taxpayers some money for a change. It’s too good an opportunity to pass up.
