William H. Henry: Sept. 1, 1935-Feb. 26, 2018

William “Bill” Houlet Henry Sr., son of Rube Melton Henry and Lena Lee Henry, was born in Sunflower, Miss. on Sept. 1, 1935. At age 17, William enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1952 and retired in 1972. He then worked as a civil service fireman at Naval Air Station Whidbey, until his retirement in 1992.

William was married to Pauline Kahawai from 1954 until 1977. In 1981, he married the Love of his life, Mary Jean Phillips, until he was laid to rest Feb. 26, 2018, with his loving family around him.

William had seven children: William H. II, Barbara L., Ronald M., Clayborn W., John C., Linda A. Detlor, Audrey Arancio and stepdaughter Sherry Phillips. He also had 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and still counting.

He was preceded into heaven by his mother and father, and his siblings: Hualk, Charles, Inez, Helen, Pauline and Marie. He still has a living sister, Shirley Mae Henry-Alford.

The Henry family suggests memorials may be made in Henry’s name out to WhidbeyHealth Hospice for the great care they provided Bill and the Henry family.

A private service will be held in the summer at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.

Arrangements entrusted to Wallin Funeral Home, Oak Harbor.
