William F. (Bill) Wallace: Sept. 1, 1950-Aug. 18, 2017

William (Bill) F. Wallace, a beloved husband, father and son, passed away from a short illness on Friday, Aug. 18 in Oak Harbor at the age of 66, due to a glioblastoma of the brain. Bill was born on Sept. 1, 1950 in Renton, Wash. to Norman and Alyce Mae Wallace.

Bill was raised in Oak Harbor, graduated from Oak Harbor High School and spent the rest of his life in Oak Harbor. After graduation, he served four years in the Air Force. Following the Air Force, he worked for the Civil Service at NAS Whidbey for 35 ½ years. Bill worked with SAR (Search and Rescue) performing maintenance on helicopters and later became a supervisor. On Aug. 15, 1985 he married the love of his life, Nancy (Schlemmer) in Oak Harbor. He enjoyed playing softball in his 30s. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and the deer were his constant nemesis. Most important of all to him was enjoying time with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Wallace of Oak Harbor; daughters, Jackie Wallace of Fairbanks, Alaska; Christina Wallace of Oak Harbor; mother, Alyce Mae Wallace of Oak Harbor; brother, Rick (Rhonda) Wallace of Oak Harbor; sister, Terri (Phil) Fisher of Oak Harbor; and two grandchildren, Kailynn and Jayden of Fairbanks, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Wallace.
