Valerie Salter Wilder: Sept. 11, 1938 – June 3, 2019

Valerie Salter Wilder was born on Sept. 11, 1938, the only child of Samuel Leslie and Lillie Salter. Valerie attended primary school in England and went on to pursue her education as an independent floral designer. She accepted Christ at an early age.

Valerie met, and subsequently married, the love of her life, Johnie Wilder Sr. Together they had four children. Her interests included crocheting, and gardening, and she had a special love for her three cats.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Johnie; children, Natasha (Bernard) Chatman, of Sacramento, Calif., John Wilder Jr., of Benton, Tex., Portia (Shawn) Spellman, of Vacaville, Calif., and Barrett (Steffany) Wilder, also of Vacaville, Calif. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Barrett J, Antoine, Jeanille, Jordyn, Barrett A, Brady, Bradon, Austin, and Julian and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Chatman. In addition one sister-in-law, Sallie McAlpine, of Detroit, Mich., and a brother-in-law, Fletcher (Emeral) Wilder, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and additional family and friends survive.

Services were held June 11, 2019 with burial at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, Wash.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wallin Funeral Home.
