Stanley Polehna

A graveside service in remembrance of Stanley Polehna will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Maple Leaf Cemetery with Chaplain Fred Renfroe officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.

Stanley Polehna, 79, died March 10, 2002 at Whidbey Island Manor following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Chicago to John and Katherine Polehna.

Stanley was a logger in Westwood, Calif., until 1955 when he began work with Lone Star Cement Company in Davenport, Calif., a suburb of Santa Cruz. After he retired in 1988, he and his wife, Alice moved to Whidbey Island to live near their sons. He married his wife, Alice in Carson City, Nev., Dec.14, 1951.

Stanley is survived by his wife Alice of Oak Harbor; sons Clint and Gordon Polehna, both of Oak Harbor, two granddaughters, Jessica May Polehna of Oak Harbor and Brittney Maria Polehna of Shelton; one brother, John Polehna, Jr. of Davidson, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Deanna Sesher of Sacramento, Calif., and Judy Nisbet of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
