Richard Mullis: June 9, 1939 – Feb. 13, 2017

Retired SCPO Richard Eugene Mullis of Navarre, Fla., passed away peacefully at age 77 on Monday, Feb. 13, surrounded by his family.

He was born in High Point, N.C., to Roy and Francis (Connell) Mullis. He retired in Oak Harbor, Wash., after 21 years in the Navy and then moved with his family to Montana.

After relocating to High Point, he enjoyed a passion for Mustang cars, was a member of the Gate City Triad Mustang Club, and participated in The Great American Pony Drive II.

He and his wife found Florida’s best kept secret and settled in Navarre.

He is survived by his wife Jean Mullis of 58 years; daughters Terri Conklin and Toni (Mike) Newsome; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

A graveside gathering will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Floral Garden Cemetery in High Point.
