Ralph E. Shelton: Jan. 2, 1954-Dec. 13, 2017

Beloved husband, father and son, Ralph Ennis Shelton, 63, long time resident of Oak Harbor, passed away suddenly at home Wednesday, Dec.13, 2017.

“Ralphy” was born Jan. 2, 1954, to Ennis and Doral Shelton in Provo, Utah. In 1960, his family relocated to Oak Harbor and settled into the island lifestyle.

Ralph attended Oak Harbor schools, graduating in 1972. During high school, he became an accomplished athlete, earning his letter in track and field and cross country. He and his track mates won the state title in the mile relay during his junior year.

On June 14, 1975, he married Janis Henni, the love of his life. He began his career with Puget Sound Power & Light, later named Puget Sound Energy, in 1978, starting out in an energy conservation program and ending as a field technician.

Ralph enjoyed watching (and participating) in all sports, as well as, camping with friends and family. His other passions included fishing and hunting.

Ralph was a very warm hearted, kind, and considerate man who was devoted to his family.

Surviving Ralph are his wife Janis, daughters Adrienne Christian (Dean) and Laura Shelton; granddaughters Sophie and Emily; brothers Reed Shelton, Roy (Colleen) Shelton and Terry (Diane) Shelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Doral and Ennis Shelton.

A memorial service for Ralph will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Wallin Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, with a reception to follow.
