Leslie Ray Rientjes: Nov. 16, 1941 – Aug. 15, 2017

Leslie Ray Rientjes, CMSgt, USAF (Ret), passed away in Coupeville on Tuesday, Aug. 15. Les was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in May 2016.

He was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Oak Harbor, the son of Bert and Janet Rientjes. Les graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1960. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 30 years, retiring in 1991 with the rank of chief master sergeant.

Les is survived by his wife, MaryAnn, daughter Stacey (Doug) Lacey, granddaughter Jenelle Green, grandson D.J. Lacey and three great-grandchildren, Nautus, Tyrin and Hayla along with a brother, Gary (Anna) Rientjes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Rientjes and son Rodney Rientjes.

Open invitation to graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Maple Leaf Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church, 1141 Wieldraayer Road, Oak Harbor.
