Larry E. Girton: April 9, 1941 – May 16, 2018

Larry Girton passed away May 16 after a two-year battle with cancer. Larry served in the Navy for 26 years in meteorological studies as a petty officer. Larry was born in Topeka, Kan. but was raised in Walla Walla. During his time in Walla Walla, he met his beautiful wife Euxucina (Zeana Girton). One of the first bases he was sent to was Whidbey Island and after retirement that is where they choose to raise their chidren.

Larry also worked at New Leaf, starting out as a grounds maintainece supervisor and worked his way up to director of operations. Before retiring he was the director of grants and research. Larry was a friend and mentor to many. His laugh and smile were contagious. So many people have loved him; he never met a stranger.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister and two of his sons. Larry is survived by his wife, three of his children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Larry loved God and his family; everything he did was for his family. Larry’s legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched along his journey.
