Kathleen Spellman Otley: Died: Feb. 3, 2019

Kathleen Otley, 71, of Seattle and Whidbey Island passed away on Feb. 3, 2019.

She was born in Los Angeles and graduated from California State University at Long Beach.

Kathleen Otley was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and modeled after college before devoting herself fully to art. She spent most of her 42-year art career in Northern California before moving to Whidbey Island.

Kathleen’s art continues to be admired and shown in galleries including: Rob Schouten Gallery of Whidbey Island, Chuckanut Bay Gallery of Bellingham, Two Moons Gallery of La Conner and Earthworks Gallery, of Yachats, Ore.

Kathleen was selected by a national jury of gallery owners, craft promoters, museum curators, and fine art and craft professionals to include her biography in the publication, “Profiles: Who’s Who in American Crafts,” registered in the Library of Congress.

Ms. Otley was one of 10 women artists chosen to exhibit past and present work in the 20th anniversary Retrospective Art Show, a part of the 1994 National Women’s Music Festival.

Kathleen’s work is part of a corporate art collections at ABC Television, Apple Computer, AT&T, Pac Bell, Stanford Medical Center, Los Angeles County Courthouse, City of San Francisco, San Francisco State University and San Francisco Federal Savings.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Gladys (Rekucki) Martin. She is survived by her pet dog, Eddie, many friends and relatives.

Memorial service for Kathleen is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes.
