Justo Mesa Aquino: Aug. 3, 1933 – March 5, 2017

Justo Mesa Aquino, born in Barrigada, Guam, Aug. 3, 1933, died peacefully at Home Place Memory Care Facility on March 5 in Oak Harbor, Wash.

Justo served his country in the U.S. Army from Oct 6, 1951, to Oct 8, 1954, followed by a career in U.S. civil service working in Guam; Oahu, Hawaii; Midway Island, Alaska; and Adak, Alaska, ultimately retiring to Whidbey Island, Wash., where he contentedly raised chickens.

Justo is survived by Gloria “Patti” Ruple, his loving and caring companion for 32 years; his children George Aquino and Karen, Justo Aquino and Linda, Claire Young and Greg, Ralph Aquino, Monica Sanchez and Roberto, Patricia Aquino-Longo and Joseph, as well as Paul Aquino and Karl; his 21 grandchildren; and his 15 great-grandchildren.

Justo is also survived by his sister Trinidad “Dot” and Antonio Lizama, as well as Juan and Francesca (deceased) Aquino. Justo was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mae Eustaquio Aquino, his parents Ana Mesa and Juan Cruz Aquino, sister Silvilina and brothers Artemio and Ignacio.

Justo will be remembered as a gentle loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. March 15 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Oak Harbor with a reception immediately following.

Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. March 14 at Wallin Funeral Home with the Rosary recited at 3 p.m. Rites of committal will be held at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton, Wash.
