Julie Chaplin Dragavon of Oak Harbor passed away peacefully with her son by her side on May 16, 2018 at Skagit Valley Hospital. She was 96 years of age.

Julie was born in Clearfield, Pa., on Jan. 26, 1922 to Alan Clarke Dale Chaplin and Jeanne Shaw Chaplin. Her family moved to Pasadena, Calif. in 1939.

After World War II broke out, she enlisted into the Navy serving as a pharmacist’s mate at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, where she met her future spouse, Lt. Cmdr. Frank S. Dragavon, D.D.S. They were married in 1946 and had two children, Tricia Dragavon and Mark Dragavon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her daughter, Tricia Dragavon-Aaron, and siblings, Michael Chaplin, Patricia Chaplin Wallace and Alan Chaplin.

Julie will be interred with her late husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego with full military honors.
