John (Bob) Morrison passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 26, 2018. Bob was born on June 4, 1942 in New Castle, Ind. to Jack and Mildred Morrison. Shortly after graduation in June 1961, he entered the Navy and headed off to Great Lakes, Ill. for training.

He met Rosemary Tannis and they married in 1964, beginning their 54-year journey. Life was never to be the same again for Rosemary. They were stationed at Virginia, Tennessee, Guam and then Bob’s beloved Whidbey Island. He came to Whidbey in 1971, grew his webbed feet, and retired on Whidbey in February 1990.

After retiring from the Navy, Bob began his bus driver extraordinaire career. He drove to Seattle for 7 years with Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle. After retiring from SeaTac he drove for an additional 5 years for Regency. He also drove the DAV van once a week transporting veterans to their appointments. He retired completely in December 2017.

Bob is survived by his wife Rosemary, son Brian, daughter Tiffany (Carlos Tienda), three grandchildren, Ron, Tehryn, and Keyauna and three great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Evangeline and Harper. Bob is also survived by his sisters Pam (Gary Miller), Jackie Bishop, four sisters-in-law, Margaret, Joan, Dorothy (Craig Evans) and Susan (Fred Ristow), and numerous nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest joy and we will miss his positive attitude and hugs for everyone.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Jack and Mildred and his brothers Steve, Bill and Jim Morrison.

Bob was very active in the community serving on the City Council, OH Lions, OH Elks, St. Augustine, and Whidbey Island Masonic Lodge.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 22 10 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church. A reception will be held immediately following at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Oak Harbor Elks Therapy Program, Whidbey Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund, or your favorite charity.
