Gregory Scott Bond: March 20, 1959-Sept. 21, 2017

Gregory Scott Bond, a former resident of Oak Harbor. and now of Oklahoma City, was born March 20, 1959 to Parker and Shirley Bond in Bethesda, Md. He departed this life Sept. 21, 2017 at the age of 58 years 6 months and 1 day.

Greg was a very intelligent man. Growing up he would sometimes correct his teachers when it came to the history of World War 1. He loved studying its history and there was most certainly nothing he didn’t know about that era. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, Greg began teaching elementary students who spoke English as a second language. He held many accreditations in the state of California in his field.

Greg loved to play soccer. Although good enough to play at a professional level, a knee injury prevented him from doing so. Coaching was also a true passion of his. In the later years of his life, Greg became a licensed helicopter pilot. As well, he went on to be certified as a flight instructor. He loved working with his hands. As a child, Greg would work hours disassembling his matchbox cars just to rebuild them into Bond cars. This passion would carry over into building WWI model airplanes; of which he had thousands.

He is survived by his sister Rebecca Bond of Bristow, Okla. He is preceded in death by his parents. No services are planned at this time.
