George W. Cobb: Sept. 18, 1933 – Dec. 18, 2016

George William Cobb passed away on Dec. 18, at age 83, from complications related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. George was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Bushnell, Ill.

After graduating from high school in 1951 and a short time at university, he entered the Naval Aviation Cadet program in 1954 and was commissioned as an officer Jan. 19, 1956. He spent 22 years in the Navy, including two tours of duty in Vietnam.

George met his wife of 50 years, Juanita (Nita) Joyner, in Norfolk, Va., and they were married June 30, 1957.

After retirement from the Navy, George raised dairy replacement cattle in the Tumwater area.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nita.

He is survived by his four children, Debra (Phil), Steve (Eva), Tom (Tami), and Jeff (Shirley), 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the food bank of your choice.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27 at the Mills &Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 5725 Littlerock Road S.W., Tumwater, with refreshments following.
